DOI Collaborates to Engage Youth in the America’s Natural and Cultural Heritage

About the Collaboration

The Department of Interior (DOI) has always recognized the opportunities to engage youth in the mission of protecting America’s natural resources and cultural heritage, and honoring America’s cultures and tribal communities. With the establishment of the Office of Youth Partnerships and Service in 2009, the DOI increased these opportunities by bringing together bureaus from across the department to implement policies and programs that support youth involvement and engagement. The Office acts as a coordinating body for youth partnership efforts within the DOI, across other federal departments, and through the development and maintenance of a youth-targeted website, YouthGo.gov, in partnership with the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).

YouthGo.gov provides an online representation of the collaborative work of the DOI and the USDA. The site provides resources and employment opportunities for young people, offers educational materials about the great outdoors, and highlights the experiences of youth who have volunteered or interned with the DOI.
