New Webpage on Teen-Friendly Reproductive Health Services

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have launched a new webpage on teen-friendly reproductive health services. This new page provides the Elements of Youth-Friendly Contraceptive & Reproductive Health Services and a downloadable infographic of a teen-friendly reproductive health visit. Contraceptive and reproductive health services include: family planning; contraception (methods to prevent pregnancy); prenatal, obstetric, and postnatal care; and prevention or treatment of reproductive tract infections, including sexually transmitted infections.

These best practices were developed through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Office of Adolescent Health and CDC’s Communitywide Initiatives to reduce teen pregnancy and ensure clinical services are teen-friendly. The Elements focus on systems related to:

  • Access of care;
  • Processes for the delivery of care;
  • Use of evidence-based clinical recommendations;
  • Costs;
  • Confidentiality;
  • Supportive infrastructure; and
  • Health care delivery environment.
