If you are starting a new job, this publication provides tips to help you save for your long-term goals in addition to your short-term goals.  If you start saving now, the money will have years to grow and you'll have a better chance of being able to do all the things you want to do in the future. Plus, by starting early, you will need to save a lot less later on.

Released by the National Academies’ Institute of Medicine and National Research Council, and commissioned by ACYF, “New Directions in Child Abuse and Neglect Research” examines current research on the extent, causes, and consequences of child abuse and neglect. This report provides recommendations for establishment and implementation of a coordinated national infrastructure to support future research on child abuse and neglect. 

The Department of Education has announced that, for students who entered repayment in FY 2011, the official three-year federal student loan cohort default rate has declined to 13.7%. This drop is seen in all sectors of higher education, including public, private, and for-profit institutions.

This document describes the national approach to disaster recovery that focuses on unity and collaboration. The core principles of the approach include individual and family empowerment, leadership and local primacy, pre-disaster recovery planning, partnerships and inclusiveness, public information, unity of effort, timeliness and flexibility, resilience and sustainability, and psychological and emotional recovery.

These primers are aimed at providing guidelines for coalitions navigating the HHS/SAMHSA's Strategic Prevention Framework (SPF). Each primer is designed to stand alone and work with the others in the series. While they primarily focus on the planning process on SAMHSA's SPF, the steps can be applied by any community coalition.
