FY 2021 International Sports Programming Initiative

The Office of Citizen Exchanges, Sports Diplomacy Division, of the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) announces an open competition for the FY 2021 International Sports Programming Initiative (ISPI). U.S. public and private non-profit organizations meeting the provisions described in Internal Revenue Code section 26 U.S.C. 501(c)(3) may submit proposals to manage sports exchange projects designed to reach underserved youth and/or their coaches/sports administrators who manage youth sports programs.

Empowering Girls through STEM

There is a gap in learning new technological skills amongst Pakistani young girls that hinders employment opportunities for them in the latest tech fields. Women in South and West Asia continue to be underrepresented in the fields of STEM, with UNESCO reporting in 2019 that just 18.5% of workers in research and development roles are women. To counter the gender imbalance in this arena in Pakistan, it is important to encourage diversity by educating young girls about career choices in STEM and to build their skills and confidence to achieve their potential.

FY 2021 Global Sports Mentoring Program

The Office of Citizen Exchanges, Sports Diplomacy Division, in the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs announces an open competition for the FY 2021 Global Sports Mentoring Program (GSMP). Public and private non-profit organizations meeting the provisions described in Internal Revenue Code section 26 U.S.C. 501(c)(3) may submit proposals to conduct two separate month-long professional development mentorship programs and a reciprocal overseas exchange involving approximately 75 international and American participants in total.

Developing Female Leadership in Higher Education

This two-year project will support the Department of State’s initiative to promote and strengthen the cultural ties between the United States and Pakistan in the areas of education and women’s empowerment, focusing on developing female leadership in higher education. The program will create, strengthen, and sustain a network of Pakistani women leaders in higher education by providing them transformational experiences, resources, and opportunities that result in stronger female leadership in the higher education sector in Pakistan.

FY2021 Increase and Diversify Education Abroad for U.S. Students (IDEAS) Program

Executive Summary: The U.S. Study Abroad Branch (ECA/A/S/Q) within the Office of Global Educational Programs in the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, U.S. Department of State, is pleased to announce an open competition for proposals to administer the FY2021 Increase and Diversify Education Abroad for U.S. Students (IDEAS) Program, formerly known as the Capacity Building Program for U.S. Study Abroad.

Federal Collaboration

The Interagency Working Group on Youth Programs (IWGYP) is composed of representatives from 21 federal agencies that support programs and services focusing on youth. The IWGYP seeks to promote achievement of positive results for at-risk youth.
