Teen Girls and Major Depressive Episodes
As reported in the National Survey on Drug Use and Health, between 2008 and 2010, an annual average of 1.4 million girls aged 12 to 17 experienced a major depressive episode (MDE), which is three times the rate of their male peers. The percentage of girls who experienced an MDE tripled between the ages of 12 and 15.
