This report describes the impact of past misguided federal policies on Native children, persistent educational disparities experienced by Native youth, and recommendations for partnerships that have the potential to strengthen ladders of opportunity for young people.

This new guide, released by the White House Initiative on Educational Excellence for Hispanics, was developed to support Hispanic students in their efforts to enroll in and afford postsecondary education. Available in English and Spanish, the guide includes recommendations on how to prepare a college application, tips for choosing the right college, and information about financing options, including resources for students granted Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals and non-U.S. citizen students.

Share With Youth: Promoting Bullying Prevention Awareness in the Sikh American Community
On June 8, 2015, the White House Initiative on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders and the Sikh Coalition held a Bullying Prevention Sikh Google Hangout. As part of her capstone project in the E3! Ambassadors Program, White House intern Naureen Singh organized the discussion to educate Sikh American youth, parents, and community organizers about the resources available from the federal government to combat bullying.
Survey on Bullying of AAPI Students
The Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Bullying Prevention Task Force created a survey to gather information about what bullying of AAPI students looks like, who is being bullied, on what basis, and whether AAPI students are talking to adults and peers in their schools and communities about the bullying they experience. Survey responses will inform the direction of the AAPI Task Force in the coming months.
White House Campout
First Lady Michelle Obama invited 50 Girl Scouts from Maryland, West Virginia, Virginia, Oklahoma, and Washington, DC, to participate in the first-ever White House Campout on the South Lawn. This event celebrated the National Park Service centennial, and promoted getting kids and families outdoors as part of Let's Move! Outside.
Young AAPI Leaders Convene for the Fifth White House AAPI Youth Forum
AAPI, OPE, and the East Coast Asian American Student Union hosted the fifth White House AAPI Youth Forum and launched the second year of the Initiative’s E3! Ambassadors youth engagement program. The Youth Forum brought together more than 150 young AAPI leaders and advocates working within the federal government and in the community to discuss issues important to AAPI youth.

Reach Higher "Beating the Odds" Summit
On July 23, 2015, First Lady Michelle Obama welcomed 140 college-bound students, all of whom have overcome great odds to go to college, to the White House for the Reach Higher “Beating the Odds” Summit. The summit celebrated these students' accomplishments, while also providing them with tips and resources to better prepare them for when they go to college this fall.

2015-2016 E3! Ambassadors
The White House Initiative on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAPI) announced its second class of E3! Ambassadors. These 23 young leaders from across the nation are committed to improving the quality of life and opportunities for AAPIs by hosting events within their campuses and communities and raising awareness of critical issues facing the AAPI community.
HIV/AIDS Strategy: Updated to 2020
The White House Office of National AIDS Policy released the HIV/AIDS Strategy: Updated to 2020. This update addresses shifts in the landscape of HIV prevention seen since the Strategy’s initial release in 2010, including the emergence of treatment as a core prevention strategy, the advent of pre-exposure prophylaxis, and the implementation of the Affordable Care Act.

Resource: Computer Science for All
The Computer Science for All initiative was developed to give all students the chance to learn computer science in school. The plan involves providing funding for states and school districts to increase access to computer science in schools, investment by the National Science Foundation and the Corporation for National and Community Service to support and train computer science teachers, and calling on more governors, mayors, education leaders, and professionals to get involved.
Report: School Environment Listening Sessions
This report (PDF, 64 pages) details WHIAIANE’s first listening tour to hear from schools and communities on ways to better meet the unique educational and culturally related academic needs of tribal students. The report summarizes information from more than 1,000 participants on many issues, such as potentially harmful tribal imagery and symbolism, bullying, student mental health, instructional content, and Native languages.

Users can complete a prescreening questionnaire to determine their eligibility criteria for resources and programs and learn how to apply. Resource categories include youth, education, food, employment, loans, and environment.
