ACF Creates New Office on Trafficking in Persons
ACF announced the creation of a new office, the Office of Trafficking in Persons (OTIP), which will coordinate all ACF programs related to foreign and domestic human trafficking. This report (PDF, 21 pages) highlights the nexus between domestic and sexual violence and human trafficking. Developed by FYSB’s Family Violence Prevention and Services Program (FVPSA) and the Asian Pacific Institute on Gender-Based Violence, the report shares information and recommendations from a roundtable hosted by FVPSA. The roundtable addressed models and strategies to deliver survivor-centered, trauma-informed services, policies that sustain coordination, and capacity building across federal, state, national, and local agencies and systems.

Share with Youth: StrongHearts Native Helpline
This helpline provides accessible safety planning, crisis counseling, and culturally relevant referrals for Native survivors of domestic and dating violence. Developed by FYSB’s Family Youth Prevention and Services Program, the National Indigenous Women’s Resource Center, and the National Domestic Violence Hotline, this hotline is the first to provide culturally-appropriate, anonymous, confidential service specifically for Native American survivors. The helpline is 1-844-7NATIVE (1-844-762-8483) and is operational 10:00 a.m. - 6:30 p.m. CT, Monday through Friday.
Supporting the Success of Youth in Juvenile Justice Settings
On February 25, 2015, OCR and the Choice Program at UMBC partnered to host a symposium on supporting the education of young people in juvenile justice settings. At the event, young people who have had brushes with the law shared how the Choice Program is helping them to turn their lives around.

This report (PDF, 97 pages) presents the findings of the Review Panel on Prison Rape. The Panel gathered information on the practices of selected correctional institutions that had either a low or a high prevalence of inmate sexual victimization and made recommendations that aim to help eliminate sexual victimization in prisons, jails, and juvenile correctional facilities.

IACP Launches No-Cost Online Training on Child Trafficking
The International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP), in collaboration with COPS and the FBI’s Violent Crimes Against Children Section, released “Child Sex Trafficking: A Training Series for Frontline Officers.” This free, self-paced online course will educate frontline officers on how to recognize and respond to victims of child sex trafficking.

Support for Child Victims and Witnesses of Human Trafficking
This set of graphic novels is now available to help young trafficking survivors, ages 2–18, navigate the justice system as a victim or witness.
