Safety Hazards in Child Care Settings
CPSC has long been concerned about hazards in the home, especially as they affect young children. Because similar hazards may be present in organized child care settings, CPSC staff conducted a national study of potential dangers in these settings to identify how to help prevent injuries and ensure greater safety for children.
Human Smuggling and Trafficking Center
The Human Smuggling and Trafficking Center provides a mechanism to bring federal agency representatives from the policy, law enforcement, intelligence, and diplomatic areas together to work on a full-time basis to address the separate but related issues of alien smuggling, trafficking in persons, and criminal support of clandestine terrorist travel and to convert intelligence into effective law enforcement and other action.

The Department of State’s Office to Monitor and Combat Trafficking in Persons (JTIP) leads the United States’ global engagement on the fight against human trafficking, partnering with foreign governments and civil society to develop and implement effective strategies for confronting modern slavery. JTIP has responsibility for bilateral and multilateral diplomacy, targeted foreign assistance, and public engagement on trafficking in persons. Report: Open Doors Report on International Educational Exchange
This report provides information on international students studying at higher education institutions in the U.S. and students from the U.S. studying abroad. Developed by the Institute of International Education, the report shows the number of international students at colleges and universities in the U.S. increased by 7% to a record high of 1,043,839 in the 2015-16 academic year, while U.S. students studying abroad increased by 3% to 313,415 students in the 2014-15 academic year.

On October 30, the White House Initiative on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (WHIAAPI) held its first Young Leaders Dialogue (YLD) Google+ Hangout on Education. The first YLD focused on education, and more than 500 students and professionals RSVP’d and attended watch parties.
