National Preparedness Directorate
The National Preparedness Directorate (NPD) provides the doctrine, programs and resources to prepare the nation to prevent, protect, mitigate, respond to and recover from disasters while minimizing the loss of lives, infrastructure and property. Protecting Student Privacy While Using Online Educational Services: Requirements and Best Practices
The Department of Education's Privacy Technical Assistance Center (PTAC) has released new guidance to help school systems and educators interpret and understand the major laws and best practices protecting student privacy while using online educational services. The guidance also urges schools to go beyond compliance and implement best practices when outsourcing school functions using online educational services, such as mobile applications and computer software.
Project iGuardian
ICE, in partnership with the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, launched Project iGuardian, a cyber safety campaign aimed at combatting online child sexual exploitation. Project iGuardian partners visit schools and youth groups across the nation, educating students and parents about avoiding risk and staying safe online.

DHS’s Stop.Think.Connect website was developed to increase awareness of cybercrimes such as identity theft, cyberbullying, and cyber stalking, and provide best practices to avoid these issues and stay protected online. DHS’s OnGuardOnline offers tips for talking to children and teens about staying safe online.
Safe Place: Trauma-Sensitive Practice for Health Centers Serving Students
As one of the tools commissioned by the White House Task Force to Protect Students from Sexual Assault, Safe Place is a resource kit that introduces and endorses trauma-sensitive practice with an emphasis on sexual assault trauma. The kit is designed to help health center staff who work with students in higher education to better understand trauma, infuse trauma-sensitive approaches into their work, and create a care environment that supports students affected by trauma.

Blue Campaign
The Blue Campaign is the unified voice for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS’s) efforts to combat human trafficking. DHS is responsible for investigating human trafficking, arresting traffickers, and protecting victims. DHS also provides immigration relief to foreign-born victims of human trafficking. Working in collaboration with law enforcement, government, and nongovernmental and private organizations, the Blue Campaign strives to protect the basic right of freedom and to bring those who exploit human lives to justice. Education Matters: Human Trafficking Bulletin
As part of its “Education Matters” monthly bulletin series, the Center for Faith-based and Neighborhood Partnerships released a new resource that provides information about human trafficking. It also outlines the steps leaders in community-based organizations can take to recognize human trafficking and effectively partner with schools and school districts to increase awareness and develop relevant policies and protocols that protect victims. This bulletin is also available in Spanish.

This website provides information on the Blue Campaign, a unified effort from DHS, working in collaboration with law enforcement, government, non-governmental, and private organizations to combat human trafficking. The campaign aims to raise awareness about human trafficking, leverage partnerships to educate the public to recognize and report trafficking, train law enforcement to detect and investigate human trafficking, protect survivors, and bring suspected traffickers to justice.
