Public -Private Partnership Launches New AmeriCorps Program to Help Communities Build Resilience
CNCS, DOE, EPA, NOAA, the Rockefeller Foundation, and Cities of Service announced a new commitment to launch the Resilience AmeriCorps pilot program. Resilience AmeriCorps will help communities plan and implement efforts necessary to become more resilient to shocks and stresses, including extreme weather and other impacts of climate change. AmeriCorps VISTA members will serve in up to 12 communities in 2015-2016 to support the development of resilience strategies.
America’s Natural and Cultural Resources Volunteer Portal: Volunteer.gov
Volunteer.gov is America's Natural and Cultural Resources Volunteer Portal built and maintained by the Federal Interagency Team on Volunteerism (FITV) that is comprised of volunteer program coordinators from three Cabinet level departments. Since its initial deployment in 2002, the Portal has grown into a strategic alliance of governmental partners from all levels - local, State, and Federal Government dedicated to serving the volunteer community by populating this e-Government site with volunteer positions and events for citizens interested in volunteer service benefitting our Nation's resources.
President’s FY2016 Indian Affairs Budget Requests $2.9 Billion to Support Tribal Self-Determination, Strengthen Native American Communities
President Obama’s Fiscal Year 2016 budget request (PDF, 6 pages) for Indian Affairs is $2.9 billion, a 12 percent increase from the FY2015 enacted level, reflecting the Administration’s strong support for Native American communities. The request includes many opportunities for Native youth, including the launch of Generation Indigeneous, a Native youth-focused initiative, and investments in education and youth programming.

NHTSA has developed new motion graphics that rely on images and animations that can help people who speak different languages or may be hearing impared learn about bicycle and pedestrian safety concepts.
Free Bicycle Safety Curriculum
The Society of Health and Physical Educators and NHTSA have collaborated to create a new, free bicycle safety curriculum that physical education teachers and recreation specialists can use when working with students in grades 6-12.
National Center for Safe Routes to School
The National Center for Safe Routes to School assists states and communities in enabling and encouraging children to safely walk and bicycle to school. The National Center serves as the information clearinghouse for the federal Safe Routes to School program. The organization also provides technical support and resources and coordinates online registration efforts for U.S. Walk to School Day and facilitates worldwide promotion and participation.
Seat Belt Safety — Tweens (ages 8 to 14)
A new campaign targeted to parents and caregivers of tweens aims to increase the proper use of seat belts among young people, ages 8-14. The goal of the campaign is to promote the development of good seat belt practices that will stay with them for life.

Videos: Reminding Kids About Street Safety Ages 5-18
Pedestrian Safer Journey has created videos for multiple age groups that can help teach young people about pedestrian and bike safety. Each video is accompanied by a quiz or discussion and resources for educators. Access materials on pedestrian safety for ages 10-14 and 15-18 and resources on bike safety for ages 10-14 and 15-18.

The Knowledge Networks page, on the AmeriCorps website, provides training and technical assistance resources organized by focus area. It connects service programs with targeted training and information.
