2015 International Student Data
Developed by SEVP, a new report, “SEVIS by the Numbers” (PDF, 33 pages), illustrates the latest data from the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS), a website that provides information about international students, exchange visitors, and their dependents while they are in the United States. The report includes information about the number of students, where they are from, where they are attending school, and what they are studying. SEVP also launched a new interactive mapping tool that allows users to explore international student data included in the report.
Citizen Corps
Citizen Corps was created to help coordinate volunteer activities that will make our communities safer, stronger, and better prepared to respond to any emergency situation. It provides opportunities for people to participate in a range of measures to make their families, homes, and communities safer from the threats of crime, terrorism, and disasters of all kinds. Cyber Security Tips for Computer and Mobile Device Users

This video from OnGuardOnline.gov reminds viewers to “share with care” when posting information online, which includes remembering how large your audience is, considering the fact that content on the Internet can’t be deleted, and making sure you get approval from others who may be featured in the video or photos you have posted.
National Preparedness Directorate
The National Preparedness Directorate (NPD) provides the doctrine, programs and resources to prepare the nation to prevent, protect, mitigate, respond to and recover from disasters while minimizing the loss of lives, infrastructure and property. NPD is responsible for enhancing the nation’s readiness through a comprehensive preparedness cycle of planning, organizing and equipping, training, exercising, evaluating and improvement planning.
Project iGuardian
ICE, in partnership with the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, launched Project iGuardian, a cyber safety campaign aimed at combatting online child sexual exploitation. Project iGuardian partners visit schools and youth groups across the nation, educating students and parents about avoiding risk and staying safe online.

Teen CERT: Community Emergency Response Team
The Teen CERT training program teaches youth readiness and response skills. Hands-on practice and realistic exercises prepare youth for the unexpected in their community. Newly learned leadership skills will empower youth to safely respond to an emergency and assist victims without endangering themselves or others.
These Online High Schools Didn’t Make the Grade
FTC has charged companies known as “diploma mills” for selling fake high school diplomas that they promise can be used to apply for college and employment. Users may be dealing with a diploma mill if the company states that they charge a flat fee; can provide a diploma in months, weeks, or days; require little or no coursework; or can offer a degree solely for “work or life experience.”
Internet Safety
DHS’s Stop.Think.Connect website was developed to increase awareness of cybercrimes such as identity theft, cyberbullying, and cyber stalking, and provide best practices to avoid these issues and stay protected online. DHS’s OnGuardOnline offers tips for talking to children and teens about staying safe online.
Lost Person Behavior Mobile App
The Lost Person Behavior mobile app provides step-by-step instructions on search plans for first responders and response teams involved in missing person searches. Designed using data from more than 150,000 missing person cases across the country, the app provides guidance for more than 40 different scenarios, including lost children.
SEVP Quarterly Report on International Students Studying in US

The report contains the latest data from the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS), a web-based system that includes information about international students, exchange visitors, and their dependents while they are in the United States.
Resource: Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) Guidance for Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS)-Accredited Schools
This resource informs colleges and universities that SEVP can no longer accept ACICS accreditation for certification purposes. Schools accredited by ACICS can use this information to take the appropriate steps to find a new accreditor or provide SEVP with additional evidence in lieu of accreditation.

This biannual report (PDF, 17 pages) highlights key Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) data to illustrate trends, values, and information on international students studying in the U.S. The report provides information on students who come to the U.S. to study, SEVP-certified schools that enroll these students, and international student demographics within individual U.S. states.

Attorney General Holder Announces Facebook, Bing AMBER Alert Tools
In a new video, Attorney General Eric Holder announced the integration of multiple online tools to expand the reach of the AMBER Alert early warning system of urgent child abduction cases. Facebook will be used to send targeted AMBER alerts to users in certain search areas and Bing will allow users access alerts through the its online broadcast tools.
