DOL will award $15 million in eight grants in varied amounts of up to $2 million each. Projects serving young people in marginalized communities will be given priority. Specifically, the grants will support organization that offer the following types of activities:

• Career exploration services.
• Work readiness.
• Career counseling.
• On the job experience, including internships, seasonal and year-round employment, pre-apprenticeships and Registered Apprenticeships.
• Youth placement services for employment, education or training.

The Nurse Corps Scholarship Program (PDF, 52 pages) provides scholarships for nursing students in exchange for a minimum 2-year full-time service commitment (or part-time equivalent), at an eligible healthcare facility with a critical shortage of nurses. The scholarship covers: 

• Tuition and other eligible fees 

• Other reasonable costs including required books, clinical supplies, and instruments 

• Monthly stipend for living expenses ($1,527 for the 2023-2024 academic year)

The purpose of this grant program (PDF, 81 pages) is to train school personnel, emergency services personnel, law enforcement, veterans, and armed services members and their families to recognize the signs and symptoms of mental disorders and how to safely de-escalate crisis situations involving individuals with a mental illness. The program will also fund an organization to provide education on resources available in the community for individuals with a mental illness and other relevant resources, including how to establish linkages with school and/or community-based mental health agencies. At least two grants will be awarded to Tribes or Tribal organizations. Learn more and apply.
