Event: Next Gen STEM 101 Train the Trainer Pilot Workshop

Date: June 25-27, 2024 
Location: Goddard Space Flight Center, Greenbelt, Maryland 

During this workshop, attendees will access NASA-specific resources, develop practical skills in implementing NASA STEM activities, learn strategies for effectively supporting educators implementing science and engineering practices in classrooms, and network with other teacher trainers from across the country. K-12 teacher trainers in STEM subject areas are invited to apply. Selected applicants will receive a $500 stipend to cover hotel, transportation, travel, and food costs. Learn more and register. 

 

Webinar Series: Dual Language Teacher Preparation Pathways

This webinar series focuses on the benefits of dual language education and how to support its implementation in an educational context. Webinars include:  

  • Part 1 - May 8, 2024, 2:00 pm ET: This session will share an overview of the six educators for A Multilingual Multicultural America (EMMA) Standards and provide a brief history of the Standards’ development, the rationale for their format, and their research-based constructs.  Presenters will discuss the structures regarding accreditation parameters for institutions of higher education and share how the Standards may shape professional learning for in- and pre-service dual-language bilingual education (DLBE) teachers.  

  • Part 2- May 16, 2024, 2:00 pm ET: This session will explore how the EMMA Standards are being used for state level certification, as a graduate certificate, by a multistate professional organizations with connections to legislation, and for teacher preparation aligned with accreditation through the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Programs.
